Shale gas mainly save in organic-rich shale by the state of free and adsorbed. Summarizing research of shale gas exploration and development account that factors controlling gas content of shale gas including total organic content, organic maturity, pore types and pore volume, mineral composition and content, fracture, formation temperature and pressure, their impact on gas content is mainly reflected in gas content has positive correlation with total organic matter, the higher maturity the more gas; Microfractures contribute to desorption of the adsorption gas and crack-scale is too large destructed the closed shale, detrimental to gas storage; Adsorbed gas increases with increasing pressure and adsorption gas will decrease exponentially with increasing temperature. And analysis of the current testing methods of shale gas content, comparing and summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of the various test methods.

Methane occurrence in coal mines has consistently been a causal factor in fatal occupational accidents like explosions, fires and suffocations throughout the history of mining. The gas content of coal seams plays an important role in mine safety and mine planning. This study is primarily focused on determining the gas content of coal seams in the Kozlu Colliery in the Zonguldak Coal Basin to quantify the magnitude of gas emissions into underground working areas and to support appropriate ventilation design. Zonguldak Coal Basin is the only bituminous coal basin of Turkey. Mining activities in the basin started in 1848 and have been carried out in the region for over 160 years. There are 38 mineable coal seams in the basin, and the coal has been produced by five collieries, from west to east: Armutcuk, Kozlu, Uzilknez, Karadon and Amasra. Kozlu Colliery is one of the largest and gassiest collieries in terms of coal production and mining activities, and is the only mine utilizing undersea mining in some panels in Turkey. The most important coal seams are the Cay and Acilik seams having average thickness of 6 and 4.5 m, respectively. Also, the Sulu, Hacimemis, Domuzcu and Bfiyuk seams are regarded as important for coal production. These coal seams have an average thickness ranging from 1.5 m to 2.5 m. Gas content of coal seams was measured using the so-called "direct method" developed by Bertard in the late 1960's.

The gas content is critical parameter in the shale gas exploration and production. The direct method was used to determine the shale gas content and the apparatus were made by ourselves. It were described the gas content test procedure, mathematic model and data processing in the paper. The adsorb gas and residue gas can be directly obtain from test, and the lost gas was estimated by the initial rate of adsorb gas. The shale gas contents from Sichuan basin are from 1.15 to 1.84 m~3/ton, the average value is 1.64 m~3/ton. Lost gas is the major gas in the shale and increasing with the lost time. Consequently, the shale should be sealed in the canister as soon as possible to decrease the lost time during the test. It also can enhance the accuracy of gas content. There are a great member of nano-pore and fracture in the organic matter, so that more TOC of shale are more gas content.

This method is simple, convenient, practical and precise. It has been applied to some newly built mines in predicting the gas emission and it has acquired quite good effect.

In the present work, we have studied the effect of Ga doping on the physical properties of Ge2oS_(80-x)Ga_xglassy alloy. The basic physical parameters which have important role in determining the structure and strength of the material viz. average coordination number, lone-pair electrons, mean bond energy, glass transition temperature, electro negativity, probabilities for bond distribution and cohesive energy have been computed theoretically for Ge-S-Ga glassy alloy. Here, the glass transition temperature and mean bond energy have been investigated using the Tichy-Ticha approach. The cohesive energy has been calculated by using chemical bond approach (CBA) method. It has been found that while average coordination number increases, all the other parameters decrease with the increase in Ga content in Ge-S-Ga system.

To grasp the gas occurrence and emission laws of Yaoqiao deep coal mining area (West ten mining area and the second central mining area) in No.7 Coal Seam, the neural network is used to analyze the relationship and degree of influence factors between gas occurrence and gas content. We construct a prediction model of gas content to predict the gas content of the corresponding position and draw contour map of the gas content. We combine gas geological data of Yaoqiao coal mine and summarize the law of gas occurrence and emission to guide the work of gas prevention and control and enhance the prevention level of gas disaster.

Gas content is basic data for preventing gas disaster. So it is especially important for rapidly measuring gas content. Based on the experiments of typical mines' coal samples in China, the rapid measurement nonlinear surface model of gas content was established by using theoretical analysis and nonlinear regression method and the rapid measurement instrument and parameters modified instrument were developed. The results showed that there was high nonlinear surface relationship among the desorption characteristic parameters value a, i and gas content W. The rapid measurement nonlinear surface model can well describe the relationship among value a, i and gas content W. The rapid measurement instrument can rapidly measure the gas content in the coal seam in 20 minutes. The error is less than ten percent. The performance is better than similar products both at home and abroad. It can meet the requirement of the project measurement of gas content.

Juye coalfield is a major coalfield in Shandong. With the progress of coal mine digging, the gas geology characteristics are more and more important for safety in production. Based on the analysis of gas geology characteristics, this paper first summarizes the affecting factors of gas occurrence, such as the coalfield structural distribution, the buried depth of coal bed, the operating range of magmatism, and then sums up the total characteristics of gas in Juye coalfield. The results are concluded that the geological environments of Juye coalfield are not good for gas occurrence, but at the central coalfield, the buried depth of coal seam is bigger, and the magma activity is stronger, furthermore the structures is not development in the overlying rock mass, so the gas occurrence conditions are relatively good. But at the other parts of Juye coalfield, a few of coal seam outcrops exist, and many open faults are development, alt which make the gas easy to be lost. So the gas occurrence conditions are not good in most parts of Juye coalfield.
